I am applying for a position for Captain with you.
Having spent my life gaining experience in many different areas of the marine industry, from design, painting, broking, and captaining I am excited at the prospect of a new challenge.
I use this experience to train and inspire crew members.
I enjoy meeting new people and traveling to new places.
My best assets are my attention to detail and my ability to motivate people.
I joined the Trinidad & Tobago Water Taxi Service (TTWTS) at its inception. I saw it as a great opportunity to gain experience in operating high speed craft.
The operation has started out small, with three 27 meter vessels which has meant being very hands on, not only with training of crews, but interacting with the passengers.
The operation has been an amazing success and is now incorporating four new 41 meter vessels.
My responsibilities as the master includes, weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly safety checks. Every six months my fellow captains and I meet to review the Safety Management System, (SMS). I collaborated with the General Manager in the set up of the Standard Operating Procedures, (SOPs), and instructional plans for emergency situation including relevant tasks of the crews and any shore side organizations we would co-ordinate with. I was also asked to assist the Port Engineer with the training of the onboard engineer in the use of the company Preventative Maintenance Program, (PMP). Outside the general operation of the vessel it is my responsibility to insure the crew have completed the Type Rating Training for the vessel and are fully versed with the operations of the SMS.
