I believe dedication, hard work, loyalty, enthusiasm and teamwork are required to succeed in our profession and are important qualities to me in all aspects of my life.

Yacht Experience
S/Y ‘Takapuna’, 112 ft Valdattero Sloop (First Mate) Dec 2015 - Oct 2016
Yacht used for charter and owner trips. In charge of ISM, occasional drive time and manoeuvring, anchoring and passage planning, safety drills, arranging watch rota’s, watch leader and tender driving for guests. The yacht was brought out of having a skeleton crew when I joined, so a lot of time was spent bringing the boat back up to Superyacht standard. Work involved paint repairs, varnishing, teak caulking leather work.

S/Y ‘Vintage’, 88.58 ft Classic S/Y (relief Mate) Sept-Dec 2015
Functioning with a crew of 3, assisted Captain sailing in the Mediterranean, along with service during charters. Delivered the boat from France to Antigua as a crew of 6, gaining more in-depth knowledge on deck as well as the administrational and leadership aspects. A good period of consolidation after completing my Yacht Master Offshore with regards to chart work, passage planning, navigational watches and the safety, security and management of a vessel.

S/Y ‘Zaca A Te Moana’, 144ft (44m) gaff rigged 2x mast Schooner (relief Bosun) July – Sept 2015
I gained substantial experience in sailing, navigation, safety and planning as well as standard deck duties. The boat was being sailed from Valencia to Antwerp for its refit, so we operated with minimal delivery crew.

M/Y ‘Utopia’, 232 ft Feadship (Deckhand/Diving Instructor) Dec 2014- Apr 2015
As dive instructor, I mainly assisted the owner and guests on diving trips in the Caribbean, but also had
typical deckhand duties, standing watch etc. I enjoyed my time aboard Utopia, becoming familiar in the
operations and planning which is required on a large boat, as well a learning how to get along well with a
relatively large number of crew members. I left the boat to pursue my RYA Yachtmaster full-time.

S/Y ‘Piropo IV’, 155 ft Perini Navi. Deckhand: Crossing Crew Nov-Dec 2014
Crew of 10, delivering the yacht from Malta to to St Maarten. Crossing involved a lot of deck maintenance as boat was in bad condition before leaving.

S/Y ‘Seren Wen’, 64 ft Moody (Delivery crew) June - Sep 2014
During this period I was deckhand on two cruises: firstly from Menorca to Palma (I performed general deck
duties); and on a second trip from Ibiza to Palma I was Tasked to take the helm for extended periods, doing solo
watches, so gaining experience.

M/Y ‘Clouds’, 70 ft Sunreef catamaran (Crossing crew) May 2014
We sailed the boat from St Maarten to Palma, with stopovers in the Azores and Gibraltar. I had 4-hour solo
watches and performed general deck duties.

S/Y ‘Clara Maris’ 74.5 ft Privilège Catamaran (Crossing crew) Nov-Dec 2013
With a crew of 5 we sailed it from Palma to Nassau, with a stopover in Antigua. I had 3-hour solo watches and did
general deck duties.

S/Y ‘Stardust’ 60 ft full Carbon Catamaran (Mate) June-Nov 2013
With the owner on-board I was tasked with Mate duties. We sailed around the Balearics and France. Other
duties included the maintenance of the boat, and stocking it with deck/interior products.

Summary of Skills: These are some of the skills I have acquired:

Foul weather experience (5 Atlantic crossings), navigation, standing solo watches, planning & administration,
whipping & splicing, line handling, winch maintenance, basic electrics, gelcoat, varnishing, teak work, basic
carpentry, sailing knots, basic commercial diving service (installations, inspections, barnacle and growth removal),
hart corrections and paperwork, towing procedures, crane operation, anchoring procedures, tender driving,
engineering basics (assisted with the engineering duties on Takapuna), leather work, polishing, painting and
power-tool operations. I am good at guest and crew interaction.
